Privacy policy

This policy explains what Build It Well collects when you give, why, and the choices you have. Questions go to admin@wellspringinitiative.org.

What we collect

When you donate we collect your name, email address, the gift you chose, any dedication you write, and the country and postcode your payment provider supplies. Payment details are collected and stored by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.

Why we use it

To process your gift, send your receipt, tell you when your books arrive, manage monthly gifts, prevent fraud, and keep the financial records the law requires. We do not sell or rent your information, and we only send appeals if you have not asked us to stop.

Saved payment details

When you give by card or digital wallet, Stripe securely saves your payment method so you can add to your gift with one click on the next page, and so monthly gifts can be charged. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

Who we share it with

Stripe (payments), our email provider (receipts and updates) and our hosting provider. Each processes your data only on our instructions. If you accept cookies, also Google and Meta, as described below.

Cookies and advertising

We only set analytics and advertising cookies if you press Accept on our cookie banner. With your consent we use Google Analytics to see how visitors use the site, and the Meta Pixel to measure our Facebook and Instagram ads. When you then give, we tell Google and Meta that a donation was made and its amount, so we can see which ads work and spend less on the ones that don't. For Meta this includes your email address and name in hashed (scrambled) form, your IP address and browser type. We never share your card details.

If you decline, none of this happens. Either way we record which campaign link brought you to the site (for example “email newsletter”) with your gift, so we know which appeals work. One cookie remembers your choice. You can change it at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

How long we keep it

Donation records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it, by emailing admin@wellspringinitiative.org.
